Peace. Memories of Anton de Kom

This award-winning documentary tells the story of the Surinamese writer and anti-colonial fighter Anton de Kom (1898-1945).Three children of Anton de Kom are the main storytellers. Their memories give an intimate and personal picture of the person who was their father and the special life of the family. As author of the book ‘We Slaves of Suriname’ (1934), De Kom was a bold thinker and pioneer. As an anti-fascist in the underground resistance against the German occupiers, he defied the terror of the Nazis. The documentary contains historical images from the family archive and from international war archives.
