The Surinamese poet Henny de Ziel-Trefossa- (1916-1975) wrote in Sranan, the lingua franca of Suriname. In 1957 he published Trotji, the first collection of poetry ever written in this language. Trefossa also composed new lyrics in Sranan for the Suriname National Anthem.
I am not I illustrates the life and the significance of this man, raise by a single mother in Paramaribo. His work is a symbol of extraordinary aesthetics and artistic courage.
